2024 Grad Information
We are so excited to be moving ever-closer to our 2024 Graduation events! WGM is thrilled to be hosting the Commencement on Friday, May 24th at 3 pm in the school gymnasium. We wanted to share the following key information.
Grad Fees
All grads are charged this $100 fee. The money is used for renting the grad gown and stole, along with the purchase of the cap, rose, diploma, cover, and group photo (Lifetouch) and any other expenses related to the ceremony. If you have not paid this fee, you can go on to School Cash and pay it no later than May 13th, 2024.
Seating
Each grad will receive 4 seats on the gym floor for the commencement. We will draw names and students will get to select their seats during the setup and rehearsal on May 23rd. All other guests will be seated in empty seats or in the bleachers in the mezzanine on a first come, first served basis.
Streaming
The grad will be streamed, so family and friends who are unable to attend, can still watch from the comfort of their home. The link for streaming will shared closer to the date.
Grad Set-Up and Rehearsal
Grads are required to help with the setup of the gym afterschool on Thursday, May 23rd. We will also run a rehearsal at this time. It is imperative that grads are present for this, so please ensure they have no other commitments (job, sports etc.).
Valedictorian
The 2024 Valedictorian recipient will be announced on April 22nd, with the criteria for the award based on the Governor General's Award.
Grad Collages
Once again, we will have a ‘grad wall’ with collages for each graduate. Students received their collage paper on Thursday, April 11th at the grad student meeting. If they did not attend the meeting, they can pick up the collage paper at the office. Collages are posted on the entrance walkway prior to the graduation ceremony, and if brought to the school early we will display them around the school prior to the event. We are asking that collages be completed and dropped off in the officed by May 13th.
Cap, Gown and Stole
WGM will keep the cap, gown and stole at the school and will give them out on Friday when students arrive before the ceremony. They will not be sent home prior to the commencement. This year, we are renting the gowns and stole, with the cap as a memento for the grads to keep.
Friday, May 24th - Commencement Day
Grads will be excused for the day on Friday, May 24th and are not required to attend their classes unless they choose to do so. Grads must be at the school no later than 1:30, to get their gown, cap and stole and get organized for the ceremony. Doors will open at 2:30 for families and guests.
