Principal's Message

Welcome to W.G Murdoch School

As your admin team at W.G. Murdoch we are so glad you’ve stopped in to our website. Our school is a very special place to learn in a small community setting, with staff who pride themselves on knowing each of our students and choosing daily what’s “best for kids” in their work. We foster connection through active communication, restorative practice and creating opportunities to learn about each other.

There are many key components of our school culture and you will find information about many of them as you explore our website. Leadership is a cornerstone of our school, with approximately 25% of our student population engaged in leadership programming and initiatives each school year. In addition, our school offers a great complement of options programming including; band, hockey, shop, mechanics, foods, robotics, along with many other specialized CTS programming. We strive to support students with an individualized approach to their programming, allowing them to pursue their interests and learning goals. We also offer a strong student support team including a full-time learning support teacher and guidance counsellor.

Our pillars of school culture are PassionBelonging and Success, with these concepts framing our work and learning in the school.

Passion

We believe that passionate people make W.G. Murdoch a place where students and staff want to come to learn every day. Passion is on display all around the school, from teachers taking risks in their classrooms to engage students in a different way to our students going the extra mile both inside and outside the classroom.

Belonging

In order to learn, students and staff must feel a sense of belonging, where they are cared for and safe. In order to support belonging in our school we use structures and strategies to build empathy and connection in our daily interactions.

Success

We desire to see all of our students achieve success. We also are aware success looks different for each student. Students’ success is paramount to what we do at WGM and we offer flexible programming with personalized goal-setting to help our students achieve their best.

We are very proud of the work we do at W.G. Murdoch School. If you would like to learn more about our community, please explore our website further or feel free to reach out to either of us in the school administration team. We would be happy to talk further about our school!

All the best,
W.G. Murdoch Administration
