Ms. Nicole Black

Welcome to Ms. Black's Home Page!

Though this year is going to look alittle different from previous years, I am stll super excited to share in the wonderment that is Science! We are going to investigate various aspects of our world, and of course, develop the academic habits necessary to ensure long term succcess. Learning is meant to transcend the walls of a classroom, and it is my goal to open student's eyes to the opportunities around them, and become critical thinkers with informed opinions. This year we have so much to accomplish and I cannot wait to get started!

If you have any questions, or concerns, I would encourage you to contact me through e-mail at I believe that education involves all aspect of a student's life, and as parents, you are an important part in your child's academic success.

Study Tips:

  • Regular review is crictial in order to keep with the course material. "Cramming" before an exam will not ensure that you have a comprehensive understanding of the material and will make it difficult to create connections between concepts.
  • Complete the review that you are given in class. Just because it was not assigned for marks does not mean that it is not important.
  • Ask questions. You are in charge of your academic success! Be an active participant in your learning outcomes.
  • Utilize the resources that are available to you. You are not expected to know everything but you are expected to seek out assistance when you are struggling. Utilize your PLOT time, attend tutorials and seek out help immediately when you are struggling.
  • Bottom line: Understanding Science does not just happen. You need to take control of your academic success by actively engaging in class and developing study habits that address your personal learning needs.
